The sudden motion sensor came out a while back from Apple to help protect laptop hard drives from damage due to a fall or the laptop or notebook being dropped. Recently developers have been taking advantage of this "feature" of the MacBook Laptop and integrating it into some really cool applications and games. We have put together a list of our top ten favorite Sudden Motion Sensor Applications for the MacBook. Check these out!
MacSaber
StarWars fans will love this one and as the name sounds yes it is a light saber application for your notebook. This is very similar to the lightsaber application that can be found on the new iPhones.
iAlertU
This is a great security application that uses not only the sudden motion sensor, but also the infrared sensor and built-in webcam to turn your MacBook into a security monitor for your room or office. Be alerted to anyone messing with your stuff with iAlertU
SiesMac
Not quite a full blown siesmagraph, but this application will detect minute vibrations and diplay them on the screen. Very cool for science fair experiments or just plain science fun.
Tilt Scream Pong.
Pong is back and who would have thought that after all these year that such a simple game would still create so much interest. Tilt Scream Pong is a fun game for killing a few minutes or hours!
Liquid Mac
Have you ever been in one of the alternative stores with all the black light posters and water pipes? Well no doubt you've seen those little picture frames filled with water where you can tilt it to make waves. Well now you don't even have to go to the mall to have this kind of fun. Liquid Mac will turn your laptop in to a wave making machine right in the palm of your hands
SmackMac
This is one of the few applications that truley has a productive use. SmackMac lets you change desktops (provided you are running multiple desktops) simply but tapping or smacking the side of your laptop. Neat concept.
Ball Simulator
Another great demonstration in physics. Balls physics will keep you amazed for at least a few minutes
Mac Pro X-Plane Motion Control
All of you flight simulator fans will love this one. Playing X-Plane with full motion sensors. Your laptop becomes the yoke and you are actively flying your plane. Bank and climb by tilting you laptop to fly your plane.
PowerBook Puppet
This is a cute application that has absolutely no use except to amaze the kids. Its cute.
PacMan with Motion Sensor
Another oldie but a goodie, pacman returns but now with full motion control. Tilt your laptop to move your pacman, eat dots and escape ghosts.
And thats it! Our top ten list of sudden motion sensor applications for the macbook. This list I'm sure will be outdated very quickly. This is definitely a great new way to bring a another new dimension to games and appications for the macbook notebook and laptop.
